Hot Camembert Melts

Camembert cheese is the perfect comfort food to make for a quick tasty snack or starter. To be served alongside Black Mountains Preserves Sweet Chilli Jamalade in this easy sharing dish to keep the cold at bay!

Cooking time: 4 minutes

Serves 2

Ingredients

  • 1 x round Camembert cheese

  • vegetable oil for frying

  • 125g plain flour

  • 2 eggs

  • 4 tablespoons milk

  • 100g breadcrumbs, make from stale bread or purchase. (Panko breadcrumbs are a lighter, airier breadcrumb that absorbs less grease and stay crispier for longer)

  • 1 x tsp sesame seeds – add to breadcrumbs

  • Salt & Coarse Black Pepper – add to breadcrumbs

  • 150g Black Mountains Preserves Sweet Chilli Jamalade

Method

Freeze the round of Camembert cheese for 30 minutes.

  1. Heat oil in saucepan to 190 degrees C.

  2. Have 3 bowls prepared with a. Flour b. Beaten egg. c. Seasoned breadcrumbs

  3. Remove cheese from the freezer and cut each round into 6-8 wedges. Gently coat each triangle wedge in flour, dip into the egg mixture and then roll each wedge through the seasoned breadcrumbs until evenly coated.

  4. Fry each breaded wedge in the hot oil until breadcrumbs are browned, 2 to 3 minutes per side. Transfer cheese wedges to a kitchen paper-lined plate using a slotted spoon.

  5. Serve with Black Mountains Sweet Chilli Jamalade - the perfect sweet accompaniment with added kick to give your taste buds a real treat.
